These two historical cores are a must-see for every Zagreb visitor. During this two-hour walk, we will visit some of the most important historic landmarks in the city.
At medieval Kaptol, let yourself be amazed by the Cathedral of Zagreb and its two neo-gothic towers that became the symbol of our city. The Cathedral has been a silent witness to more than ten centuries of life in Zagreb, and your guide is here to share with you the stories about its history, its legends and real events that shaped our way of life.
The solemn silence of the Cathedral will be replaced by the buzzing atmosphere of the Dolac Market. Under the characteristic red parasols, you will be immersed into a colorful symphony of sounds and smells, made of vendors' murmur and fragrances coming from fresh fruit and vegetable offer in this city's largest market.

Our walk will continue through Tkalčićeva street, the most charming street in Zagreb, filled with bars and little restaurants, which still keeps its authentic 17th and 18th century look.
Passing through the famous 17th century Stone Gate, home of Chapel of Virgin Mary, we will enter Gradec (or Upper Town) and then proceed to the Square of St. Mark with the St. Mark’s Church, whose multicolored tiled roof is the most photographed landmark of Zagreb.
Guarded by the medieval tower Lotrščak, we'll take the famous Zagreb Funicular to bring us down to the Ilica street and finish our tour at the very heart of Zagreb, Ban Josip Jelačić Square.
This walking tour will take us back to the second half of the 19th century, the birth of the modern city of Zagreb.
We'll follow the ingenious urbanistic creation, the so-called "Green Horseshoe", a series of eight parks, lined up in the U form, surrounded by grand palaces housing some of the most important cultural, artistic and educational Croatian institutions. Among other things, at Zrinjevac park you will find out about Croatian heroes and about the popular pastime activities of the 19th century. The Art Pavilion will tell us the story of the birth of modern movements in art, and the Main Train Station and the Esplanade Hotel will take us back to the decadent '20s. The stroll in the Botanical Garden will lead us towards neo-baroque splendor of the Croatian National Theater and we'll finish with the inevitable coffee-stop in the Flower square.
